Renton is zoned to the Renton, Kent and Issaquah School Districts, with educational opportunities including private, public, parochial, and Montessori schooling. Some of the larger schools include Nelsen Middle, St. Anthony Elementary, Hazen Senior High, Liberty Senior High, and Renton Christian School. For post-secondary students, Renton is home to the Renton Technical College. However, for more variety, a mere ten to fifteen-mile commute reaches City University, Bellevue Community College, Seattle University, Seattle Community College, the Art Institute of Seattle, and Green River Community College. Living in the smaller community of Renton allows students to minimize their costs while still having the academic advantages of living near Seattle.


Recreation
For those who enjoy the outdoors, there are many parks and trails in the Renton area.  The city maintains 29 parks and 13 miles of trails for public use.  The Cedar River Trail, Gene Coulon Memorial Beach and the Skate Park are just several of the unique spaces in Renton.  The Maplewood Golf Course and Driving Range (along with the River Rock Grill and Alehouse) are also part of the Renton Park system.  The temperate weather ensures that the course is open year-round.  Make sure you book early---this is one of the most popular courses in the Seattle area!

For some family-geared fun, visit the Landing and take in a movie or shopping.  Also during the summer, the Henry Moses Aquatic Center and Renton Farmers Market are the places to go. 

And when you get hungry, don't neglect downtown Renton's many excellent restaurants. Some of the better-known choices include: Armondo's (Italian),  The Red House (gourmet with a great wine list), and A Whistle Stop Ale House (kid friendly pub).
